Modisoft to QuickBooks

Does Modisoft Integrate with QuickBooks? What to Ask and What to Check

Owners ask this before they commit to a setup, and the honest answer depends on your plan. This page explains the three ways Modisoft totals can reach QuickBooks Online, the questions to put to Modisoft, and the checks the books need whichever route you use. We do not set up the connection.

Does Modisoft integrate with QuickBooks Online?

That depends on your Modisoft plan and setup, so ask Modisoft or your reseller in writing. Totals can reach QuickBooks by being typed in, imported from a file or sent by a connecting tool. Whichever route you have, each day must land once, in the right account, and tie to the bank.

Modisoft and QuickBooks: how totals can move across

We cannot tell you what your Modisoft plan connects to, because that depends on your agreement and may change. What we can tell you is what the books need whichever route you have. We work from the reports Modisoft already produces, your statements and your QuickBooks Online file. We are not part of Modisoft or Intuit, we do not set up or change anything in either, and what your own Modisoft plan includes is something to confirm with Modisoft.

Ask Modisoft three questions in writing

What can my plan send to QuickBooks Online, in what form, and who supports it if it stops? A written answer protects you if the connection fails later. Ask the same of your reseller if you bought through one.

The three routes

Someone types the daily totals in, a report is exported and imported in a batch, or a connecting tool passes totals across. Each can work. Each fails in a different way, and each needs a different check.

An integration moves totals, nothing more

Even the smoothest connection does not record card fees, match deposits to settlements or decide how lottery and sales tax are treated. A connection with the wrong account map is still wrong, only faster.

What to check on any route

Count the days posted against the days Modisoft closed, compare income for a sample day with the report, check that tax and lottery sit in liabilities, and match deposits to the bank. Do this every month, because a failure leaves no message.

If you do not have a connection

Many stores run without one and type or import totals. That is a normal choice, and it works if someone checks it. It is not a sign the books are worse, only that the check matters more.

How to use this page

What we do whichever route you have

1

Find your route

We work out how totals reach QuickBooks today.

2

Write the account map

Each department, tender and fee gets a named account.

3

Check the days

Days posted are counted against days closed.

4

Tie to the bank

Deposits and settlements are matched, with a reason for each gap.

5

Handle what a connection skips

Card fees, lottery and sales tax are recorded in the books.

How we check the route each month

1

Confirm the route

Typed, imported or connected.

The checks depend on the route. A typed store needs a close look at missed days, and a connected store at silent failures.

You do not need to change anything.

2

Count the days

Days posted against days closed.

A missing or doubled day explains the most gaps for the least work.

Gaps are listed the same week.

3

Test the map

Each department and tender is followed to its account.

Tax and lottery must be liabilities, not income.

Any department that changed is flagged.

4

Match the bank

Deposits, settlements and fees are tied to what was posted.

Timing is separated from real differences.

Fees are booked as expense.

5

Report

You get closed books and a short note.

The note lists open items and any change to the map.

If the route keeps causing problems, we say so.

Where the answer goes wrong

Assuming a connection exists

Nobody asked, and totals were never entered.

Assuming a connection is right

It runs, but the map is wrong.

No check after launch

A silent failure runs for months.

Pass-through money as income

Tax and lottery are counted as sales.

Fees never recorded

Card fees leave the bank and no expense is booked.

"They didn't just record transactions and call it a day. They built a custom chart of accounts around how a remodeling company actually runs, did a full catch-up on years of bookkeeping inside QuickBooks Online, and now stay on top of my monthly bookkeeping and payroll."

"Sahil and his team have been handling the bookkeeping and job costing for my painting business. They've done a great job cleaning up my books, using integrations to give me accurate, timely job costing and solid weekly data. Reliable, and the team is very detailed."

"They set the accounts up properly first, then cleaned up everything I never entered."

Rolian Rolian

"When I came to them I had no financial structure in place at all. No job costing, no WIP tracking, books were behind, no real way to tell if any job was actually making money. They came in, did a full cleanup, and set up job costing and WIP tracking inside QuickBooks."
